Studies on the Basal Metabolism of Korean military persons (Report Ⅱ)

Abstract
|

|
The Basal metabolic rates of 225 military men with ages from 19 to 37 years old (average age of 25 years) were measured during March and April L956.The results are given in table 1-4.
The average basal metabolic rates Calories per squar meter of body surface of the
25 antry :(83 men), of the Engineer (60 men) of the Artillery (57 men) and Tank men) were 43.32, 45.22, 43.19, and 42.88 Calories respectively. The mean of basal metabolic rates of total subjects was 43.74Cal/sq,. mm/hr. This rate is 5 percent higher than average value of Air force men which was s41.69-1 m/hr. of the age from 18 to 22 years old.
The average daily caloric consumption of the Infantry, Engineer, Artillery and Tank
were 3061, 3480,3850 3850 and 2970 Calories.
The result of this study showed that more than 96 percent of the subjects were in the range of 15 percent deviation from the average rates of each groups.
